National Wear Your Lilly Day

June 22, 2015

National Wear Your Lilly Day

Yesterday was both Father’s Day and the first day of summer, and with the first day of summer comes  the infamous National Wear Your Lilly day so I thought that it’d be the perfect time to share my first official outfit of the day here on the blog. I just recently got my DSLR back from my parents and I am so stoked about it. I am hoping to start doing some more outfit posts for you all in the coming weeks. I hope you are all as excited about this as I am. Now I can actually be a real fashion blogger. Stay tuned this week for my summer staples and much more.

Dress: Lilly Pulitzer (old) similar here & here Shoes: Tory Burch Necklace: Kendra Scott Bracelets: Kendra Scott & J.Crew Factory Sunglasses: Target

My apologies for the semi awkward posing in these, it was my first time posing for “fashion blogger” pictures so I am still a little uncomfortable on camera. Hopefully it’ll become more natural with time.

How did you celebrate Father’s Day yesterday? Let me know down in the comments.

Memorial Day Outfits

Memorial Day Outfits

If you know me, you know that I love any occasion to sport my red, white, and blue and do so proudly. I decided to make a few different combinations of Memorial Day themed outfits for you all for some inspiration. Some are casual and some are a little dressier so there’s basically something for everyone.
White Romper // Tory Burch Miller Sandal // Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac Crossbody
I absolutely love this white romper because it can either be dressed up or down. Personally, I’d wear it with these sandals during the day and toss on a pair of brown wedges to make it a more night time appropriate look. To incorporate some red into this outfit, I’d probably add some red Kendra Scott earrings and call it a day.

H&M White Shirt // Wrangler Denim Shorts // White Converse // Michael Kors Crossbody

This outfit is a bit more laid back and casual, which is perfect for day time. The distressed denim shorts really showcase your American spirit and the white converse are comfortable for walking around. Add a small crossbody and you are good to go.

J.Crew Scalloped Cami Dress // GUESS White Wedges // Kate Spade Tote //  Cobalt Kendra Scott Earrings

This last outfit is my favorite and of course the most dressy of the three. I am absolutely loving the cobalt and red together and how both the purse and dress have the pretty scalloped detailing. If it’s chilly where you live, you can throw on a white cardigan over your dress.

To be honest, I will probably be sporting a tank top and Nike shorts for actual Memorial Day because we will be driving back from Oklahoma but it’s always fun to curate holiday outfits, right? Maybe I will get a little more festive on Saturday or Sunday, who knows. I do know that I will be sporting my American flag bikini sometime this weekend though because what’s an American holiday without a festive bikini?

What are your Memorial Day outfits ideas? Let me know down in the comments.

College Graduation Throwback

May 11, 2015

college graduation throwback
(My graduation cap..isn’t it cute with the monogram, bow, pearls, and glittery blue paper?)

College Graduation

I absolutely cannot believe that I graduated from college a year ago. I feel like so much has happened since then even though it feels like just yesterday I was crossing that stage and receiving my diploma. Since May 10, 2014 I have moved back to Houston and into an apartment with my amazing boyfriend, gone on vacation to Hawaii with my parents and boyfriend, worked at Vera Bradley, got a wonderful marketing internship, and much more…It’s been a crazy journey since graduating and it’s definitely been nothing like I expected it to be. Now I am heading back to the city where it all started (my college town) to embark on a new journey. I am so stoked to see what’s in store for me in the future as I find the right career path and everything else in between.

I’m going to have a moment of honesty right now. I am not going to lie, I definitely graduated from college and expected my life to just fall into place, and well, it didn’t. I expected that once I graduated and began my job search that I would immediately find a full time position that I loved, and that would be that. Well that was just not the case for me, and to be completely honest, for awhile I felt like a failure because things didn’t turn out as expected. I was embarrassed because everyone else around me seemed to be making things happen for themselves and I just wasn’t. People would ask me where I was working and I’d be really hesitant to tell them that I was just an intern somewhere.

I know I didn’t have the most conventional path after graduation, but that’s completely okay. It definitely took me awhile to accept this fact but now that I have, I am so much happier. I think what people forget to mention is that not everyone’s lives just come together immediately after graduation. It’s just something that’s not talked about even though it should be and you shouldn’t feel guilty or have people make you feel guilty for being in that boat. So for everyone struggling to find a full time job after college, this is for you. Don’t fret, you will find your place eventually. Sometimes it just takes longer than you expect so hang in there because good things are coming your way.

Now what you’re actually here for: a few pictures from my college graduation.

college graduation
(This is my fabulous boyfriend, M. We’re about to be in the same city again after a few months of distance!)
I am really excited for what’s to come and am so happy that I finally got into blogging after all these years. It’s definitely become such a staple in my life since the beginning of the year and I can’t wait to see what my blogging future holds for me as well.

How to Get Things Done at Work

May 7, 2015

Today I am going to share with you some tips & tricks on how to get things done at work. I hope you enjoy!
how to get things done at work

How to Get Things Done at Work

1. Make a master to-do list and map out everything that you need to get done.

This can be for the entire week or just for that specific day, whichever you are more comfortable with. I tend to make one for the week as a whole and then make a different one for each day. This makes it easier for me to break down the everyday tasks and the big projects that I need to complete each week. I usually put my high priority items at the top of my master list to make sure that they get done and then once those are finished I go down to my less important tasks and start tackling those.

2. Make sure your work space is clean.

I don’t know about you but I absolutely cannot focus if my work space is a complete and total disaster. Take a few minutes and tidy up your desk so that everything is neat and clean and not distracting you from getting your work done. I usually do this when I get into work so that I can start the day off with a clear mind and no distractions.

3. Get your most unpleasant task finished first.

I know that you try to put off your least exciting task until the last minute, but you will be so happy that daunting assignment isn’t looming over you the whole day just waiting for you to start it if you tackle it as soon as possible.

4. Decide what to do with every email you receive, right after reading it.

Whenever my inbox is too cluttered, I would rather spend my time clearing out my inbox than focusing on the tasks at hand so to eliminate this, I stick to the above motto. Whether you need to immediately respond to the email or file it for future reference, do it right after reading that way you aren’t completely overwhelmed with the amount of emails looming in your inbox just waiting to be taken care of.

5. Don’t let social media distract you

I know I am super guilty of this, but sometimes at work I get a little too engrossed in social media and get behind schedule on my work. Make sure to allot yourself time to cruise the Internet during your lunch break or even for 10 or so minutes randomly during the day if you feel it’s absolutely necessary to prevent you from doing it when you’re completely swamped with work.

What are some of your tips for getting stuff done at work? Let me know down in the comments.

10 Lessons I Learned from Being Greek

Today I am going to share 1o lessons I learned from being Greek. Being in a sorority when I was in college taught me so many things, some being really important life lessons, which I will share below, and some pretty vital but not so serious life lessons as well. Being in a sorority throughout my entire collegiate career was definitely a wonderful and rewarding experience. I met some of the most wonderful people and made so many memories that I will cherish forever. I will never forget the day of my initiation and how my life changed for the better. Now onto the 10 lessons I learned from being Greek.
