So after a few hours of house hunting this past weekend, I pretty much know everything that I do and do not want in my future home. We went and saw 5 homes off of our online wishlist in person which was quite the experience and now we are torn between two completely different homes. So here are a few house hunting tips to consider when looking for your first home.
House Hunting Tips
- Pictures can be deceiving // When we were picking out the five houses that we wanted to see in person we picked them based on the listing photos that we saw online. Well let’s just say some of the relators were pretty good at manipulating angles of the houses because a few of the houses looked a lot smaller and different in person than they did in the pictures.
- Make sure to set a budget prior to searching // It can be a little disheartening when you find a house that you love without considering your budget first. Whenever we first started looking at homes online, we made sure to know what our budget was so that we didn’t fall in love with any that were way out of our price range.
- Be realistic with your expectations // Of course we all have our quintessential dream home mapped out in our minds but does that place really exist within your budget? Probably not. There are definitely some things that are non negotiable items but you most likely can’t have absolutely every little feature you want.
- Find a good relator // Michael picked out our relator but when I met her on Saturday, I knew she was the perfect fit. She was giving us great tips and tricks for house hunting since she knew we were first time buyers and letting us know she had our back right from the get go.Anyone else in the midst of house hunting? I’d love to hear your thoughts on the whole process!
