As y’all probably already know, I went to Chicago for a The Blog Societies conference a few weeks ago. I went to Chicago a few years back for another conference where I had a little more time to explore so I’m going to be compiling some recommendations from my most recent Chicago trip + my previous one to round out this travel guide. Let’s hop right on in to my Chicago travel guide.
Chicago Travel Guide
Things to Do
See the Bean
You’ve most likely heard of the Bean unless you live under a rock. The Bean is a cool mirrored bean shaped sculpture inside of Millennium Park.
Go to the Willis Tower
The Willis Tower is ultimately the tallest building in Chicago, therefore, it has a really amazing view. It also features the Sky Deck which is a glass ledge which you can stand on and look down on the city. If you’re afraid of heights I don’t necessarily recommend doing this but it is certainly an experience for those who are willing.
Go to the Navy Pier
The Navy Pier is a fun attraction with some rides like the Centennial Wheel (a huge ferris wheel) and some casual eats.
Visit Millennium Park
Millennium Park is where the Bean is located but that isn’t the only attraction there. The park hosts a slew of summer events like outdoor concerts, festivals, and film viewings.
Go to the Chicago Riverwalk
I live in San Antonio and our main attraction is the River Walk so I always find it interesting when other cities have them as well. The Chicago Riverwalk features some restaurants, kayaking adventures, and guided tours.
Check out the Magnificent Mile
If you enjoy shopping then you’re probably going to want to check out the Magnificent Mile. From well-known department stores to fan favorites like Gap and the Banana Republic, you won’t be disappointed in the Mag Mile’s selection.
Things to Eat
Cindy’s Rooftop Bar
The view from Cindy’s was absolutely impeccable so while the food isn’t something I’d normally prefer the view of the Bean and Millennium Park made it so worth it.
Eataly
Eataly is a really cool place. It’s basically a ton of small Italian restaurants, bakeries, and more spread out throughout one building. I wish I could have eaten at each individual restaurant because all of the food looked so good.
The Hampton Social
I actually never made it to the Hampton Social but I have heard so many good things about it that I absolutely had to include it. The Hampton Social features the infamous Instagramable “Rose all Day” sign but really, the entire restaurant is super cute.
Giordano’s
If you’ve ever been to Chicago then you have probably had some deep dish pizza. Personally, I still prefer regular pizza but you have to try deep dish at least once in your life.
