We’re back today with another guest post. This time we’re talking trends and boho chic essentials. I have been trying to branch out a little with my style lately so when Peter proposed this guest post idea, I was completely sold. Now without further ado, the boho chic essentials. Hope y’all enjoy!
Boho Chic Essentials

Are we surprised boho chic is still trending? Not really. Are we still loving it? Absolutely.
It’s wonderful that we are witnessing so many changes in fashion and enjoying experiments designers are taking lately; you’ll admit these trends are not only inspiring but are unquestionably influencing our personal style, challenging us to take our sense of fashion to another level! Don’t you find that utterly exciting and totally nerve-wracking at the same time? Let me tell you this – I do, as does every stylist and fashion lover out there!
The focus of this post is boho chic which this season, in all honesty, deserves our full attention. While we are used to having it be fringe and casual-style related, truth is – boho’s changed more than we know; that is, the style itself evolved so much (and is still evolving) under the influence of masterly construction of amazing designers making a change in the fashion world as we speak. And what they are doing? Pure gold!
If you’ve been following work of designers like Maria Grazia Chiuri & Pierpaolo Piccioli under the Red Valentino line for Pre-Fall 2016, you’ve definitely noticed that their 1970s inspired boho looks have a rather lux vibe, something totally different to what we are usually used to seeing under the boho scope.

So, what changed? Well, the designs have become more daring and more intriguing. From the cute little outfits oozing romance and the-girl-next-door vibes, boho turned to bold prints and botanical motifs which are nothing but breathtaking. Celebrities are going crazy over it (just take Rachel Zoe, Nicole Richie, Emily Kokal, Gwen Stefani and plenty others as perfect boho role-models), us “regulars” are falling in love with and the designers are, obviously, pretty much obsessed with it… so, why not try it out!
Fashionistas have already noticed that Valentino capitalizes on botanical motifs and blends it perfectly with the already established easy-on-you pieces. Unlike what we’ve usually been seeing in Valentino shows (the ethereal, dark, Ophelia-esque looks), this time around we are getting the perfectly put together in-your-face clashing patterns and mixes of fabrics that make even those the least interested in fashion – interested! If you can hitch any of those pieces, great for you! Take it from someone who’s been in the fashion business for a long time – boho with a twist and an edge is a great way to stand out from the crowd!
If you are wondering about texture, expect embroidery, linen, fringes and faux leather, as well as combinations involving light fabrics or lace and soft cotton. As for color, blue hues such as maya blue and empire blue will definitely reoccur throughout the season as will mineral green, pear touches and apricot spritz. Thematically, boho is now a mixture of traditional chic, safari and 70’s inspired items. Amazing!
Here are 3 boho trends you’ll find dominating the scene:
70’s Vibe

As mentioned already, 70’s inspired clothes are going to be a huge hit! Your mom’s closet is finally going to serve its purpose – whether you are grabbing a maxi dress, an oversized shirt or a blouse, you won’t miss it!
Swimsuits gone classic

We are over the Moon to see that a classic one piece swimsuit has seen its way back into the spring/summer swimwear collections online and it’s looking absolutely fabulous! While they may be a bit expensive if they are straight from the runway, they’ll be worth every penny. However, if you don’t really feel like breaking the bank, amazing boho swimsuit variants can be found in swimwear shops online thinking of all that’s money saving chic pieces.
Overalls and Rompers

These have been trending in celebrity circles for some time now and it’s finally confirmed – they are a trend we can’t live without. Think a go-to romper with embroidery with essential ethnic jewelery pieces and get your boho overalls game on!
