Back to School Essentials for Grad School

August 15, 2016

College students will be heading back to school before we know it so I figured it was time to share some of my favorite back to school essentials. As an online graduate school student who’s only taking one course per term, I don’t need as many back to school items as the average person, but I still like to stock up on my favorite school supplies to make the back to school season a little more fun.

Back to School Essentials

Planner // I’m sure some of y’all already know this, but I am basically a planner snob. My go-to planner for the last two years has been Erin Condren but I’ve also used the Day Designer and the Lilly Pulitzer planner so those are great options as well.

Notebook // Cute notebooks are my jam and I have so many of them around the house. Since I only need one notebook per every ten weeks, I buy them in bulk so I have one for each new term without having to go out and buy a new one. I typically opt for a cute printed one from Target.

Tote // If you prefer a backpack, go with that but I’m a big fan of using a big tote to keep all of my belongings in since in college you typically only have one or two classes per day and don’t need to bring literally everything to class each day.

Pencil bag // You gotta have somewhere to house your pens and pencils and highlighters otherwise you may not be able to find them because they are bound to get lost in your bag if they’re not contained.  Somehow I still end up losing pens and pencils left and right even though I have a pencil bag to keep them in.

Pens and pencils // These are an obvious essential because how else are you going to take notes in the classes that don’t allow computers? Those classes can be a bummer, but in my opinion, hand written notes are where it’s at.

Highlighters // Having a highlighter or two on hand is definitely essential as a college student.

Computer // A computer is an absolute must for a college student. I personally prefer Macs over PCs but it’s all about what your preference is.

Flash Drive // In my opinion, all college students need a flash drive. They make it so much easier to work on the school computers and share files with your classmates if necessary.

Printer // A printer is another obvious necessity for a college student. I remember hating going to the library to have to print things so I was stoked to get a printer my sophomore year of college.
